decisions?

Post by Jane » Tue Oct 31, 2006 11:23 am

who is in for deciding the 7 inch...

closing date was 13oct, 3 weeks ago now, perhaps it is time we meet again, no? meeting this week, wed or thurs?

if anyone has yet to listen to tracks, they are on i tunes in the office puter, folder named forest records.
i also burnt some cds to take away and listen to in the comfort of your own home, plus they are on the cafe computer upstairs to whistle while you work.

the pressure is on if we are still heartset on a stocking filler....

Why not thrash it out with a meal and some wine at one of our flats.
Consensus could be difficult
so maybe Chris should design a voting system not unlike the one used for in house S.C.C.s
It's never failed us yet.
Any night this week is good for me.

We met. We listened. We narrowed down.

Everyone had their own favourites.
This would be my 7 inch line-up

Side A:
Pendulums "Moon Mountain"
Hermitage Rising

Side B:
Team Turnip (second song)
Bruce Willis

Other songs I like:
Team Turnip (first song)
Gutbuckets

Anyone else?

I like Gaz's side A. For side B I would have un-me (Mikey's rap) and either song 41 (speedboat/speedwagon/something?) or something from Conflict Diamonds.

Making Your Mind Up

Post by Gaz » Tue Nov 14, 2006 11:59 pm

MAKING YOUR MIND UP - 18/04/1981
3 weeks at #1 - 12 weeks on chart

You gotta speed it up, and then you gotta slow it down
Coz if you believe that our love can hit the top
You gotta play around
But soon you will find that there comes a time
For making your mind up

You gotta turn it on, and then you gotta put it out
You gotta be sure that it's something everybody's
Gonna talk about
Before you decide that the times arrived
For making your mind up
Has a truer word ever been said (while whipping off a skirt?)

Perhaps the people who entered are wondering what is going on...
I've had some people ask me what's happening with the 7 inch.
Seeing as it was so widely hyped we should see this thing through.

What are your top picks Dai, Chris and Jane?
Anyone else who wants to help make a decision go to the office computer and listen to the tracks under "Forest Records" on the itunes (by the end of this week perhaps??)

the pendulums are good people (folky stereolab has got to be good) and krumins are old-school forest so i would support both of them although i havent heard any of the tracks

just thought I should bring it to your attention that team turnip maybe in the process of changing their name to romulus - they were in last night and asked me to amend the events book with a new name.

it may be that they have just changed the line up though and are using a different name for that reason. might want to chekc it out though.
they call us winsome, but we're just hopeless

the results are out...!!!!!!

Post by dan » Sat Dec 09, 2006 3:03 pm

and it's a draw. some fukin surprise.
so:
here arew the winnners and the nearly winners:
UnMe - Jane (J), Chris (Cr), Dai (Die), Swithen (S), Robin (R) - 5 votes!!! congratulations. It's out of a maximum of 7 votes - which no-one got so you did very well.
Pendulums (moon Mountain) - Dan (D), die, j, s, Gareth (g) - 5 Votes. Very well done!!
Park and Ride (Markham) - J, Die, D, S 4 votes - not bad at all!!!

Now here it gets a bit tougher.
this category is called the 3 vote one. they all got 3 votes. we need to cut three songs into one. or a mega medley mix. ideas for how to do this please.
they are:

Team Turnip (song 2?) - G, R, Cr

Speedboat (Fist Parade) - S, D, R

Crave - J, Die, Cr.

Please help us. we are so tired.

Everyone - vote for which tune you like best out of these. Do it soon. do it now. do it. just do it.

Okay...what's going on? Has Crave edged it? Or is the 'Boat still in there?

Is it Crave? If so looks like the decision's been made then.

So the final line up is:
UnMe
Pendulums (Moon Mountain)
Park and Ride (Markham)
Crave

Not my choice but are we agreed?

sup peoples!

can someone please zip+mail or yousendit me (dirkmarkham@hotmail.com) the other three tracks so i can hear what i'm up against?

Park and Ride is not by "markham" - rather the Hemulen...

spoke to gazza about this in dezember but: the seven inch should be a series - with a snappy title like "my beat is a forest", or maybe just "Forest singles club #1"

look 4ward to hear the stuff.

peace,

drock

well it's 2 votes each to crave and speedboat by my calculations. and chris and Robin still need to vote. Robin maybe is not able to do so due to his Argentine disposition but CP certainly can. And now his is the seat of power. Do it C. vote. and end this thing

oh, hey, if you have selected the pendulums tune to be on the record, martin says they have a better mix of it... so you should get it from him.

hey i just spoke to james from pendulums, he says they want to work on the version of the tune for 7". I said ok but give it to us in 2 weeks. he said ok. we both said goodbye then. That sound ok? We could also let the other victors have the same deadline for tune tweaking?
