Amp gone boom.

Post by ChaoticReality » Mon Jan 26, 2009 10:13 pm

Hi,

Dai and Jamie just asked me for help because the sound for the film had stopped suddenly.

I prodded the amp a bit and I can get a very very very weak signal (volume up to max and you can barely hear it) from the computer and DVD, but nothing proper.

I think probably the driver unit for output is dead. This is potentially fixable, depending on whether that is the problem or not.

Until then, I have wired the DVD player directly into the phono lead that goes to the stage multicore and thus into the desk on chan 11/12. This means the film could go ahead using the PA rather than cafe speakers but we now have no jukebox for tomorrow (or the foreseeable future).

I will come in tomorrow to help the KM get sound running through the desk and will try and do a guide tonight for use until we can get the amp repaired.

Cheers,
M
Mike

So it seemed to be working yesterday, which is odd. I wonder whether it had a heat-related overload.

I know some of the stuff in there has warranties, does the amp?

The rhythms of the universe want the film sound to be over the PA.
I love the bomb.
