Volunteer Co-ordinator

Post by Gaz » Wed Jul 09, 2008 2:06 pm

So a team of EVS people will take on this important role.

Emi is very interested along with Taskin.
Carlos and Olivier too in their final couple of months but perhaps Emi and Taskin can take it on long term.

We can write a list of tasks here. Feel free to add or amend:

* Attend volunteer fairs at university, colleges, volunteer centre.
* Create and distribute promotional material to encourage volunteers.
* Be available to talk to volunteers about any issues (including personal issues) that may come up.
* Ensure the rota is filled in day and at nights - this could involve ringing people to fill gaps.
* Help with training volunteers and making sure new people start at appropriate times. Perhaps arrange training sessions.
* Provide all new volunteers with information about Forest.
* Promote other ways to work in Forest outside of kitchen including Working Groups.
* Keep contact book up to date
* Make 'application form' for volunteers (this has been started - where is it hiding??)
* Help arrange volunteer parties.
* Help arrange occasional open meetings for volunteers eg. AGM
* Conduct initiation ceremony and further brainwashing -

So I guess this can be begun right away, yes?

Enjoy!!

I have some volunteer opportunity registration forms from the volunteer centre that I am perpetually not getting round to filling in. You need to make a sort of job description for each volunteer opportunity the forest has available, then it can go on their website and stuff. It would be handy for our own site and posters too. If they could do this it would be great.
I've had it with you. If I had an image of a laser gun I would absolutely position it right here in my hand...
Ha! I have a real laser absolutely positioned in my hand!

I was just thinking we haven't had one of these for a while.

It's been five days since that last post. Is there a date set? Are the application forms around? You need to let KMs know about this sort of thing.

Maybe there isn't such a need for an AGM type meeting at the moment. I only mentioned it as a 'we haven't had one for a while' sort of thing, rather than a 'one is overdue' sort of thing. We have loads of meetings that people could come to. And the main thing which people are going to ask is 'what is happening with the building' and we don't know the answer. Once we do know the answer, an AGM would be worth having.

we don't really need a proper AGM, but it's usefull just to have a sit down and create a space for volunteers to voice their opinion. We did one before just in the cafe, it was pretty cool.

Is this team still active?

I see these days there are a lot of empty shifts or times when the KMs/NMs have no help.
