Forest is Amazing

Post by HGiles » Wed Apr 20, 2011 1:59 pm

Amid all the meetings
and the worries about the future
and the burnout
and the occasional disagreements and resentments
and the admin
and the annoying people
and the problems
and the failures
and the near-successes
and the things-not-running-quite-perfectly

I worry that we forget how amazing this building/community/idea/chaos is
and that we have amazing free events and workshops almost every day
and that it's driven by soul and love and energy not by state and power and profit
and that we've been creating a space for free culture for ten years
and that we have supported a huge number of artists who wouldn't be where they are without us
and that we've enabled literally thousands of people to share their creativity and learn something new
and that we are a fun&inspiring (if exhausting) place to be

which is all quite important, because that's why we do all things we do
because it's great to do that stuff
even when it's tiring&heartbreaking.

Thought it might be worth pointing out
again.
Apologies (or not) for excess enthusiasm.

Onwards!

Lien put something in Harry's burrito
I've had it with you. If I had an image of a laser gun I would absolutely position it right here in my hand...
Ha! I have a real laser absolutely positioned in my hand!

y'know it's funny that I'm here on a tiny farm in Czech Republic and there are people here who love the Forest.

Forest deserves much love. Whenever I've asked for a hand with something 99% of the time at least one or two people are only too happy to help...wonderful.

Feeling like bumping this post back to the top.
Because.

Have a good fairy lights & pine tree fest, I'll see you all soon for building days!
We built this city on rock n roll, etc.

If you truly love film, I think the healthiest thing to do is not read books on the subject. I prefer the glossy film magazines with their big colour photos and gossip columns, or the National Enquirer. Such vulgarity is healthy and safe. ~ Werner Herzog
