DIARY

Post by simone » Fri Nov 16, 2012 2:51 pm

so
pretty last minute now but we can still do it
let's make a 2013 diary.
A5, i'll try and find a template but basically we need a person for each month to design 4 A5 sides to go opposite the weekly planner page.

months that need filling are:

jan
feb
mar
apr - yas
may
jun
jul - margarida
aug - billy
sep - simone
oct
nov
dec

deadline is the 1st december
we can scan images if you are unable

we will then print a bulk amount from lulu
http://www.self-publishing-guide.co.uk/ ... ?page=lulu

then after that they can be printed on demand

who is up for the challenge?
please ask other volunteers who may be interested but not on the bb.
it will solve all your xmas and birthday present problems

I can do one! Maybe November, to stick to tradition? But I have no idea what it is I need to do. Can you send me a template? Explain in more detail what the diary will look like and what needs to be added/ coloured/ written/ doodled on?

ps it will be black and white, or we could just do it in one colour like the slingshot diary. they did dark pink/purple.

photos can be used as well.

Kat Corbet will take January.

[quote]Ok, I've been playing with figures and possibilities and here's a proposal.
If we do the 7-day format (I like that one because it gives us a whole page for creativity) like this - week to the left, artsy bits to the right:

we will need 120 pages for the diary itself (5 weeks + 5 blanks/week).
I also thought we could include a special-feature-front page for each month - and maybe use the back of this one as a Monthly Notes page or such instead of starting the calendar immediately on the back.
(One option could be, for the first week, instead of artsy stuff having the blank page on the left for the notes and the week on the right like this - this would cut down 12 pages):
)

So (and consider how much numbers terrify me, I might have got these all wrong but you get the idea):

120 calendar pages (including the blank on the right)
24 month cover and monthly notes
10 intro pages - personal info, calendar, useful info, some other good stuff we might think of including
6 end pages
14 contact pages (using ABC DEF GHIJ KLM NOP QRS TUVWXYZ division)
2 front cover
2 back cover
=
178 pages.

180 if Cornelia agrees on including the wonderful Edinburgh map she drew for the Emotional Guide.

Cost-wise, is this a reasonable number of pages? If needed, we can cut down easily on the contacts, end pages and playing with the monthly cover space I've mentioned before. The amount of space we have to work with really is the best starting point.
Anyway, let me know. As you've probably noticed by now, I love diaries and I really want to make this one happen. Ahah

we really need a template that already has the dates marked on it. shall keep searching, if anyone has a gift for googling maybe you could look too, it is not my forte. thanks

one page? not sure what you mean

we need to do 4 or 5 pages each to fill each month.

superstar caroline is making the weekly planners and we have 3/4 months left to fill. though i did think of some emergency ideas for month fillers are:
blank for own notes, or with a heading for ideas of things to write eg my favourite places
chants/ mantras
black and white drawings to colour in

margarida would you be happy to meet up with me to compile this sometime next week? i'm away now til tuesday so anytime after that.
DON'T FORGET THE DEADLINE IS THIS WEEKEND EVERYONE
great looking forward to having it ready for the new year....rock on 2013

'effin freezing!      If still stuck and, if a join-the-dots and photographs are ok and (last if I promise) if you can scan any day from Saturday onwards...  then could do 4 pages 3 photographs and 1 drawn 'join-the-dots'  (might put other activities on that page too)

tis done!
i have ordered 10 copies which will cost £5 cost price. we'll see how these look as the cover may need a quick tweak and then we can order more if we think they will sell. the may cost more in the next order as this one was discounted.
think we could sell them for 6.50, making a small profit but keeping them cheap....what do others think?
we can make them available for people to buy direct from the lulu website too. shall we do this straight away once we have seen them and checked them? i think it will still work out cheaper for people to buy them from us.

also they will arrive end of this week i think. i will be away so feel free to open parcel with my name on it and check them km's. let me know how they are and i'll then order more if we decide to. the deadline for xmas delivery is friday so we will miss this for a second delivery but we can take orders if they are popular

x
