Film makers wanted

Post by Hannah » Sun Mar 28, 2010 5:53 pm

Good afternoon everyone
Since Deborah left I have been showing films on Monday nights. But I'm a bit unhappy about showing films that are available on DVD and therefore - even though not totally mainstream - well known and copyrighted. I think it would be more interesting and more in the spirit of the Forest to support young film makers who are looking for an audience and to show independent films. It would be nice to present them here in a nice atmosphere, maybe followed by a discussion with the director...
In order to find film makers I will put up a poster at the art college, but maybe you also know anybody who made a good film and wants to show it at the Forest? Or do you know where else I could find film makers/films? Any other thoughts?

it would be great if the programme and events information told us what film is going to be screened. That way people would know in advance if they wanted to come and see it.

ie. instead of:

Monday 29th March
9pm Film Night

it would be:

Monday 29th March
9pm Film Night : Star Wars : a documentary about ancient space travel..

cool and cool!

Maybe it could work? But it will be a kaleidoscopic blend of mysterious shadows and rainbow hued-dreams seen through compassionate tears.

great idea on the programme listing being descriptive!

from http://edinburgh.thingsandstuff.org, some groups you could contact;

their facebook group walls have others sharing related links which could be of use.
hey, if you don't like it, post on the BB (so you can ask about participating for better) | MilkMiruku

Thanks for the links, I'll check them out! :)
As for the listing of the films in the weekly programme - I talked to Lynne and apparently it's not such a good idea unless we show totally independent films...

I make short films and music videos. Not sure if it's the kind of thing you'd normally show, but if you want I can throw a few on a DVD. A programme of different music videos from people could be cool. You could even have a theme, keep them upbeat, or mellow, depending on the night.
