TK away day sunday 25th?

Post by michaelbowdidge » Wed Jan 14, 2009 1:19 pm

So, are we still having our 'away day' on Sunday the 25th? What time? What's the plan? Are we still going up Arthur's Seat (so to speak)?

I still think it would be fun to do this, although the momentum of my rant has abated somewhat.

I thought it was going to be the 24th? I would prefer saturday if poss.

There may be a FOH action day next weekend also which i am keen to attend.

Arthur's seat (so to speak) is a perrennial favourite in my book.

yes, it was the 24th, i am working on the sunday now too .
arthurs seat sounds lovely jubbly and then food and drinks and deep philosophical discussion of the future of total kunst at mine? it would be good to think about a tk group show.....and the festival i guess

My apologies, I thought it was the sunday for some reason. Can't make all day saturday now as I've got a teaching commitment late afternoon/early evening, though if we go up the hill in the morning or early afternoon I might be able to do that and then meet back up with you all later.

What about the 5 "M"s: Martin, Melanie, Mirja, Mathheus, (Em)i ??

if no one else is about maybe we should just call it a morning stroll up the hill and have a pint in the Sheip's Heid...

If not that then i may need to just go up there myself and listen to The Smiths on my walkman again.

Not going to be able to make the morning now as well as I've got to work - I could only get weekend shifts this week :( Might still be around for evening discussions though.

ok
a plan of action is needed
so
lets say to meet by the delightful pond in front of the parliament building at 1pm. (as an away day lets not meet at forest, we'll only get distracted)!
then
climb to top of arthurs seat and admire view
climb down
pint at sheips heed
rest tbc

shame you can;t make it mike we'll have no fun

is that the pond with the crazy swans? They can break your arm, i'm told.

Shame you can't make it, Mike. If Mike can't make it then it doesn't neccessarily have to be a early morning start.

i prefer early mornings , but i not really bothered .

a suggestion for the next one from me is

http://www.littlesparta.co.uk/

this is an amazing little garden made by one of my fav artist . Ian Hamilton Finlay . depending on how many people want to go depends on how we get there .

the crazy way is to walk across the pentlands , camp and then go and see it .

it would also be great to vist this garden sometime ,but i dont know when it opens , gardens seem to be my thing

http://www.charlesjencks.com/current.html#garden

Garden of Cosmic Speculation, 1989-2007. i hear it does open once a year

hi guys
i'm (a little m) in for that 24th (?) saturday,
ahh, hike, havent had a good one for a while

also those gardens, littlesparta would be great, but its freezing in the pentlands this time of the year, no? Just thinking about a long long hike, thermals, thermos bottle, hypothermia, disorientation... darkness, thermal blankets, rescue helicopters...
just kiddin, i do like pentlands

the cosmic one i have heard is tricky because they are open just a couple of days a year...? But somebody mentioned that a group can try to make an appointment

I do like the notion of hilking across the hills, camping and then going to little sparta - a proper little adventure :) April or May could be good for that, before it gets too busy...

hilking... that sounds like finnish 'ho:lkka! that translates roughly as jogging about aimlessly. i can visualize this as a group activity in the pentlands

We might want to think about meeting earlier than 1 on sat if anyone is thinking of attending the FWG meeting...

yeah, rubbish

we could meet for a walk in morning and then reconvene in evening after meeting? the jiggeryfuckery event that dai etc are doing should be good.
walk at 1030 and then lunch together? then those going to working group can head off...
what do people think?
