from the other thread:
Would anyone object if Emily and I redecorate the Gold Room on Sunday after closing? I think it really needs it.

There is a whole thread on this in the visual arts forum. Apparently Jessie had a plan. But, the plan doesn't seem to be taking shape in any timely way... Don't do anything without clearing it with the visual arts crew, and you should probably move this conversation to that forum.
hello-
no word from jessie yet- i have pmed her to see what is happening.

i'm all for moving ahead sooner rather than later- i say if nothing is heard back by sunday then go for it- the main concern of the consensus seeming to be that the space seem more inviting, a relaxed atmosphere etc.

also i am more than happy to help out with some painting and stuff if the actual colours are decided by someone else.

Excellent. I'll get some paint and we can make it all lovely and useful. Any help would be very much appreciated.

the gold paint is very shiny.
sanding would be best.
that is a big job. bill says we have some sanders but not good ones.
perhaps we should hire/buy one? i'm not sure of the prices for such things.

i tested a patch by painting directly on the gold.
it's okay but would need at least two good coats.
haven't seen it when it's fully dry though and it might flake off quite easily.
so sanding might be the only way.
I don't know if it would need a heavy or light sand.
experiment...

there is a lot of wall in there.
also some of it is pretty high.

a suggestion (put forward by shannon) was to maybe leave the gold that is above the line and paint everything below it. so that would mean choosing a colour to go with the gold.

also the ceiling is red. i can't see that getting painted in a hurry. so that's something else to consider...

suggestions on colours anyone?

whether we keep some of the gold or not let's think about colours that would work.

something warm and inviting i feel....
the more you think, the more you stink

i am always concerned when The Forest name is taken too literally so I'm hesitant about the green. anyone else? Sorry to put this up because the plans are good and the room does need a redesign but forest - green scares me.

If green's not cool someone else is going to have to go and get paint. I got a nice shade of green this morning but as I'm here til 7 and the shop closes at 6 I won't get a chance to change it.

ok i know maybe it's too late and you don't want to hear this, but if you need extra paint the Dulux warehouse on west bowling green street (off Bonnington Rd) are very obliging to giving away free leftovers, you don't get much choice of colours though, lots of Magnolia and grey...!
