to attract, encourage and help retain volunteers who wish to contribute to the forest and to provide relevant information, incentive and direction to new and existing volunteers.

oh, and to put together fabulous volunteer parties.

thinking about this: i think there we should, and i don't know how to say this well, but encourage a debate on why we are here, how volunteering could be beter and to facilitate all manner of problems between staff, management and punter... or something like that.

this is a really important group and i think it could sound more active and proactive. it could really operate philosophically about the nature of volunteering etc....

what do you guys think?

agree with ryan on this - clearly one of the most interesting aspects of forest is how it operates independently thanks to armies of volunteers.

i always thought the working mode of the forest could be a template for other autonomous community businesses.

Oui - especially keen to have some sort of clear policy on how to manage difficulties between volunteers and punters, volunteers and staff, etc.

Sorry I missed the first meeting. I'll be at the next one (probably an important group for all kitchen managers to be attending).

Yeah the volunteers should be accorded primary rezpect.
Volunteer of the fortnight should only be a starter.
Who is the greatest volunteer?
Sergio - the spaniard in the works
Graeme is solid
Trisha is an evergreen sweetheart.
These people need to be afforded due respect.

"Volunteers are exceptional people. They work hard to contribute freely to something they believe is important, useful, and deserving of their time. The Forest has run on volunteer power since it opened. It is remarkable, and all are grateful for every single person who contributes.

The Volunteering Working Group endeavors to encourage volunteers to do amazing things here, from contributing to the daily workings of The Forest to helping out in more complex workings.

We also organise the monthly Vollie Party - a little extra 'thank you' for you amazing volunteers."

Does this suit? A*
