Forest Fundraiser in April - We need you!

Post by Lynne » Tue Mar 23, 2010 1:13 pm

We are hosting another Forest Fundraiser to raise money for new toilets.

We will be selling alcohol until 3.00am from Thursday 22nd April - Sunday 25th April,

If you want to be able to serve alcohol during those days, you will need to do your Licensing Training!

We will be holding Licensing training in the Action room on:

Monday 29th March, 2.00pm - 4.00pm
Thursday 1st April, 7.00pm - 9.00pm

Monday 5th April, 2.00pm - 4.00pm
Wednesday 7th April, 7.00pm - 9.00pm

Monday 19th April 2.00pm - 4.00pm
Wednesday 21st April, 7.00pm - 9.00pm

The training will be geared towards what you need to know about serving alcohol at the Forest, as well as other useful Foresty stuff for new vollies or those who simply can't remember!

Once you have your certificate it is valid in any licensed premises in Scotland. So you won't have to do the training again.

Please come along, your Forest needs you! And we really need new toilets

Yes, do the training, everyone! And then sign up on our April rota for a shift during the Fundraiser. :)

Just as a further word of warning (this has happened to us at the pub):

If you have not had this training, you cannot sell any alcohol. The Licensing board send people round who will buy alcohol and then ask to see proof that you've done the training. If you cannot provide this, both you and the Forest will get in a lot of trouble.

The LSOs have been cracking down recently as the grace period (6 months) to implement the new law expired on 1st March and so they are enforcing it. We have had more spot checks in March alone that we had between September (the law change) and the start of March (the end of the grace period).

Last time round, we got off quite easily. I think I observed one check by the LSOs which seemed to pass with no difficulties. However, this time round they won't let us away with anything so all the rules really have to be observed or we risk jeapordising Forest's chance of getting an Occasional License next time round.

Sorry to harp on, but it's very important this time.

Unfortunately I've had to cancel the first round of training this week.

But I will be doing the second round beginning Monday 5th April.

Please come!

A little update on the Licensing Training: The dates for the training are:
Tuesday 20th April, 5.00pm - 7.00pm in the Action Room
Wednesday 21st April, 7.00pm - 9.00pm in the Action Room

Remember, you need to do the training to volunteer during the Fundraiser! And we need you to volunteer! ;) But it might be of use for your CV as your certificate will be valid in any licensed premises in Scotland.
