Forest Programme 27/09 - 5/10

Post by Roman » Sun Sep 28, 2008 8:59 pm

Monday 29th September

8pm Film Night "Uphill for Jesus"

The 3 minute short, Uphill for Jesus is by a guy called Ben Barton. He lives in Brighton I think and is mainly a poet. He is making these short films as a new kind of poetry. You can find him on the web, http://www.benbarton.co.uk

"Don’t Look At Me"

Chris Purnell is the director of the main film. But he won't be there. His producer, whose name I don't know, will be there. I think this producer is the one who made Roast Me. This is a mock documentary, or mockumentary. Some of the actors will be there too. by Swithun

TotalKunst Gallery: "Habitat" by Mirja Koponen

29 September-12 October

"I am interested in painting as an environment. How to move with painting? To me it is an unruly, tactile and open-ended process. It's a way to carve into a space and tag it while moving in it, enjoying and reappraising its physical and imaginary dimensions."
by Mirja Koponen

9pm Grind Sight Open Eye
Experimental Improvisation

Grind Sight Open Eye is hosting an interactive multimedia event. This group is determined not to be defined, and they succeed; the samples on their website are largely furious, amorphous soundscapes, which made me think of a hurricane in a can factory. If experimental, no-holds-barred music/noisemaking is your thing, then come along and participate.

Euan : No Influences at all - we started from Zero.
Forest : Why Forest Café ?
Euan : I have seen good bands playing at the Forest Café; I think this is good and small venue to start up: We can handle a venue this size.
