Thinking about it, it was halfway through an Ubuntu install the other day and whoever I was in the action room with said it was being left for someone to come in and finish it (can't remember who, in either case).
If it's still like that, should I finish the install?

I've got a livecd sat right here and will be heading to forest for opening, so I'll have a look if you want.

Re: geek meet/workshop evening!
Was there ever any progress with this?
Is it something that people would still like to sort?
I am up for trying to co-ordinate stuff if people are happy.

Re: both cave keys missing
i've not been in today - has this been sorted? who in general has keys for the cave? do we need more cut? has anyone shifted the master recently? nix? shane? cave make money. money good for forest. etc. I've just checked and there's no key in the cave drawer so I guess this is still an issue. Nix d...

Re: Site Problems -URGENT
Argh, the non-relative links, they hurt my eyes! Seriously, though, it looks like PHP, for whatever reason, is unable to read the top_random file anymore. It may be that its HTTP transport has been turned off for whatever reason, or that an apache or php config file has changed (nothing to do with u...

Re: both cave keys missing
No idea about the key kept in the crafty room, but I was the one who gave Emma the key from the drawer (she turned up and told me she was booked in, so I assumed she was a member. Nix: We need to get membership cards sorted ASAP) and I'll wager it's probably locked inside (a band did this last week ...

Re: Where is stuff from Old Bluey?
Small team effort I reckon would be best. This seemed to work pretty well (even though I can't claim any credit other than providing the adaptor, as I was pretty busy. We managed to recover all the files desired, I think. The disks seem to be fine, weren't having any speed or indexing issues that I...

Re: Cafe and Events Wed 3rd Dec 2008
Sorry I couldn't make the meeting, will aim to be at the next one. Some thoughts on the minutes: A way to discourage impromptu "crap" gigs is to make a lockable cover for the sound desk and keep the key in the kitchen. That way, performing artists are at the KMs discretion. Another thought I had was...

Re: Network Security
Our previous wireless router is still in the action room, I think. It's a D-Link DSL-604+. What you'd probably want to do is set that up with the old connection settings (SSID "forest", unencrypted), have it do DHCP+NAT on that wireless network, and assign it a static IP on the wire. Then, on the W...

Re: Network Security
Do we have a second AP we can use as well? My reasoning: We suddenly switch the AP over to use a WEP password of "forest" and put a notice up. Not everyone will see/understand the notice. People with autoconnecting Wifi setups will be puzzled. Kitchen vollies suddenly get lots of people complaining ...

5:30-6:30ish would be better for me, as I'm more likely to be awake (meds are playing havoc with my sleeping patterns atm) but I can make earlier if it's more convenient for you.swithun wrote:Would lunchtime (12-1ish) on Sunday or tea time (5.30-6.30ish) be better, Mike?

I'm also hoping to get a picture-guide done soon, so that bands can at least set themselves up and get reasonable sound if no-o...

Re: web team meeting, monday 6th
gaah, a change of hosting company would be good, but migrating all the server side stuff (mail, etc also) would be a right pain... Such is always the way, I found. For that very reason, I gave up on hosted companies about 3 years ago and got my own server, which is sat in a rack in a datacentre in ...

Re: Network Security
*reads up on WEP as it has been a while* ah yes, true, which would then leave a man-in-the-middle style attack as the next requirement to sniff traffic (assumedly they'd use the same SSID as the forest's AP which would only be picked up on as a security issue by savvy users)? Correct. And even then...

Re: Network Security
Do we think that this is a potential threat at Forest? If so, is it feasible to encrypt the network and make the key available somewhere obvious (paint it on the wall or whatever)? The encryption need only be WEP, it matters not that the security is pants, as the aim is not to stop anyone connectin...
